Frequently Asked Questions About Tastiva
Practical answers for importers, distributors, and buyers developing their own brands, covering existing products, custom development, samples, order requirements, and quality confirmation.
Are you a knife manufacturer or a trading company?
Tastiva is our company brand. We handle customer projects and commercial coordination, while knife production is carried out by our own Yangjiang Mingzhen Hardware Knife Factory, established on December 12, 2006.
The factory covers about 5,000 m² and processes raw materials into finished knives through the manufacturing steps required for each product, including material processing, surface finishing, handle work, assembly, logo application, and packing.
The factory currently has 500+ existing products. We invest in new-product development every year and develop 80+ new products annually, continuously expanding our product range and updating the product and manufacturing options available to buyers.
Our production includes existing products, customized versions of existing products, and custom production from customer samples or technical drawings. The factory exterior, workshops, production areas, and product photographs shown on this website are all from our actual factory and products.
What knife products and custom manufacturing projects do you handle?
Our existing product range covers kitchen knives, chef knives, boning knives, butcher and meat-cutting knives, heavy-duty meat knives, Chinese cleavers, bone cleavers, and selected outdoor knives.
For B2B projects, buyers can choose from our existing product range, modify an existing product model, provide a physical sample for custom production, or provide a technical drawing for custom production.
On existing products, customization may include blade steel, handle materials, manufacturing and finishing processes, surface appearance, assembly details, logo application, and packaging. Products can be supplied under Tastiva or produced with the buyer’s own brand, logo, and packaging.
What information do you need to quote an existing product?
For an existing product, the core information is straightforward:
- Product model
- Purchase quantity
- Packaging requirements
If you want changes to the standard product—such as a different material, process, handle, logo, or packaging—please specify the changes you need.
A full technical file is not required when requesting a quotation for an existing product without additional product changes.
What do you need for custom production from a customer sample or technical drawing?
For custom production from a customer sample, provide the physical sample together with the expected quantity, branding and packaging requirements, and any changes you want to make from the reference sample.
For custom production from a technical drawing, provide the drawing and the product specifications defined by the project, such as dimensions, materials, construction details, manufacturing or finishing requirements, logo, packaging, and expected quantity.
We use these materials to confirm manufacturability, the sampling work required, and the quotation scope before the project moves forward.
Can we approve a sample before production?
Yes.
For an existing product, samples are arranged according to current sample availability.
If an existing product needs to be modified, or the project is based on a customer sample or technical drawing, a project sample is made after the product specifications and sample requirements are confirmed.
Sample cost and sample timing are confirmed for the specific project. Once the sample is approved, it is used together with the confirmed specifications as a reference for production.
How are MOQ and production lead time confirmed?
There is no single MOQ or production lead time that applies to every knife project.
They are confirmed according to the actual order, including the product model, purchase quantity, materials, process changes, branding, packaging, and whether sample approval is required.
An existing product using its current specification and packaging is handled differently from a product that requires material changes, process changes, custom packaging, or sample- or drawing-based production.
For this reason, MOQ and the production schedule are confirmed for the specific order rather than published as one universal figure for every product.
How are quality requirements confirmed and checked?
Quality requirements are defined through the confirmed product specifications and, for sampled projects, the approved sample.
Inspection points are set according to the actual product and order requirements. They may cover materials and components, key dimensions, blade finish, handle fit and assembly, logo application, workmanship, packaging, and carton details.
Production and inspection are carried out against the requirements confirmed for that order rather than a single generic checklist being used for every knife product.
